LONG ASH SALUTE OF THE WEEK: I strongly believe that a woman should ALWAYS stand up for her man. Well Gisele Bündchen is under a blustery siege, and somebody's got to stand by the world's most famous supermodel. Here's the "controversy": Moments after the New York Giants won Super Bowl XLVI, a camera caught Bündchen in a corridor leaving the Stadium. As she passes, Giants fans call her by name, and a man off-camera bellows: "Eli owns your husband!" As Bündchen waits for an elevator, she says something to her friends, but loud enough to hear: "My husband cannot (EXPLATIVE) throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time. I can't believe they dropped the ball so many times." Her husband's teammates crucified her publicly stating "She just needs to continue to stay cute and shut the heck up!" Now while her statement is definitely a 10 out of 10 on the team sport cringe index…her intention was NOT to go on the record with anything. She simply made a crass retort to a New York Heckler making a very classless statement criticizing her husband. And lets face it, …it's not like it was such an inaccurate statement. At the very moment she uttered those words, Wes Welker was moist-eyed, putting the blame on himself for dropping a pass that may have led to the Patriot's game winning touchdown. That was magnanimous of Welker but unnecessary. It's a team game, and a team loss. Either way...I commend Gisele for standing up to the rude NY heckler and defending her husband, even if the comment didn't reflect the best sportsmanship. Gisele Bundchen, this cigar is for you!
